Vogue Festival 2014

Saturday 29th April saw the 3rd Vogue Festival in London, this year sponsored by Harrods.  I've attended the festival each year and this year was another blinder.  The speakers were of the highest calibre and the activities available to festival goers were exceptional.  You could have a makeover by Burberry makeup artists, your hair styled in the latest catwalk trends, manicures, healthy juices, walk the Harrods catwalk, get advice from Vogue editors, the list goes on...

The talk I attended was by Alexa Chung, Amanda Harlech and my personal favourite, Lucinda a Chambers. Three women with such unique style, they gave the best advice about purely being yourself and let your personality show through your clothes, where the reach day means your a different character, or you feel comfortable wearing the same navy sweater day in day out, your clothes show the world who you are.

The Vogue shop was also a highlight, with sweaters, books and stationary available to purchase.  I of course took full advantage of this :) as well the obligatory London shopping spree, post festival, natch.

Porter Magazine & Peter Pilotto for Target

Yesterday was a brilliant day for me, it brought the delivery of 2 great things, the new Porter magazine, and a gorgeous dress from Peter Pilotto for Target.

When the collection went on sale on Sunday, I didn't think I stood a chance of getting an item or that it would be SO reasonably priced (considering that the Isabel Marant collection for H&M still had some pretty prices items, and was nearly impossible to get outside of London).  However, I signed in to Net-a-Porter.com on Sunday morning and lo and behold, there were items in my size and price range - oh happy day!

There wasn't even time to think, as soon as the dress was in my shopping bag, I whizzed through checkout and then waited patiently for it arrive, desparately hoping that it would fit, as by lunch time Sunday, my size had sold out.

So it arrived, the trill of opening such a special parcel with ribbons is the stuff of dreams and even better, the dress fits! A perfect dress to wear in Paris in April.  I decided on my shape however, it looks better belted in, otheiwse my bust makes the proportions not quite right.....

The other arrival from Mr Postman, was the first edition of Porter magazine.  A thick glossy book filled with uplifting and inspiring articles championing women without the patronising edge that sometimes comes with feminist issues; those that make you feel like you're not quite doing enough, whether it be in professional or personal life.  This magazine as a whole celebrated women's acheivements and inspired readers to push themselves and embrace sisterhood without the cringe enducing "high five" moments.  It also is available in digital edition, which means you can shop straight from the magazine!! Genius or dangerous, you decide! All I know is that I can't wait for the next edition!!

It's all getting a bit cheesey

I love baking, cheese and veg....so I decided to mix them all together.

At first it looked a bit bland (worrying)

But then they came out the oven looking amazing!!

And they taste amazing too!!

Here is the recipe....
  • 150g self-raising flour
  • 75g porridge oats
  • 1½tsp English mustard powder
  • 1tsp baking powder
  • ½tsp bicarbonate soda
  • 200g courgette, grated
  • 150g strong cheddar cheese, grated
  • 75ml semi-skimmed milk
  • 1 egg
  • 5tbsp vegetable oil

Pre-Heat the oven to Gas 4, 180°C, 350°F. Mix together the dry ingredients, add the grated courgette and cheese.  Add the milk, egg and vegetable oil, to the bowl and mix all together.

Spoon into 12 paper muffin cases, place in the oven and cook for 30 minutes. Serve warm or cold, also nice with a touch of brown sauce :)

My Flash Trash....

New year, new rings, I have been loving my new zodiac ring from Me & Zena on MyFlashTrash.com - can be worn as a pinkie or midi ring, personally I prefer as a pinkie, as the band is a bit thick for a midi ring.

The lovely people at Myflashtrash.com sent their jewellery with a gorge card and written note too - a great personal touch!

I do love a midi ring, and have been wearing a silver
triangle one to death, looks fab with a great dark manicure (Chanel Taboo is my current love)

Juicy January

So I'm back to writing my blog, taken some time off to try my hand at different things.....PADI qualification, Shotgun and Chelsea Bun Club rep (still do this...) and now I'm back to shopaholic and style junkie. This year sees me going to Paris for the first time.

Needless to say I'm beyond excited. However, it leads to a queasy feeling about my Paris Wardrobe. So to be photo ready in the fashion famous city, I've taken to juicing with a vengeance.

Hindering my savings, I have also been inspired by a pinterest pin for a cute savings idea, so here are my new savings jars for Paris and New York (30th birthday next year eek)

I have also added slightly to my designer shoe love affair with a bit of MatchesFashion.com naughtiness.....they were in the sale ok!!
Plus they came in the most gorgeous packaging

So I'm excited to write up about Paris excitement, juicing fun times and all other shopping joys
Xx

Back for good....

Hello! Sorry I've not posted in a while - very lazy of me I know.

Since my last post, I have joined a gym (beach body bliss will be mine - ready for Benidorm) and today is the first day of my PADI Open Water Course, I am nervous and excited.

My latest purchase, isn't a stylish one.....its a shortie wetsuit....no one will ever look attractive in one of these things...they are the worst type of bodycon ever!

I also crumbled under the pressure of shopping with my mum and made my first Joules purchase of the year - yes I know, I've stayed away since Christmas!

My last jaunt in there resulted in me buying a gorgeous wine coloured blazer, with a velvet collar.  This time, I bought a really great tweed skirt that I just couldn't justify buying full price, but when its down to £34.99 - who can resist a bargain like that.  I also bought a gorgeous pair of navy linen trousers (not an excellent picture sorry)

I think that they will look great with a bretton striped top and a white shirt would be good with the skirt.

Bring on the Overtime!!

I have crippled under the pressure of a mywardrobe.com £50 off code and have bought this MICHAEL Michael Kors dress...its for for my holiday in Benidorm (any excuse for a new dress).  At the same time a few other items did happen to sneak into my wish list, just a bag, and another dress, and some tops and a couple of pairs of trousers....and they'll be staying in the wish list - promise!
